Community rallies around grieving family
Daughter of well-known councillor, son, pregnant caregiver killed
The close-knit community of Stanger is reeling after two women and a toddler were killed in a horrific accident last weekend.
Vaneshree Moodley, her son Kevaal (3) and their pregnant care giver lost their lives in the accident on the N2 near Tinley Manor on Sunday.
It is not clear what caused the accident, which also injured Moodley’s husband Lloyd and their nine-month-old daughter Sharanya.
IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare911 tried to revive the care giver but she died at the scene.
A witness at the scene said Moodley was still conscious and asking for her son when she was taken to hospital.
They were rushed to hospital with an RTI escort due to the seriousness of their injuries. She died shortly after reaching the hospital and Kevaal passed away later that night.
Moodley is the eldest daughter of former Ilembe district councillor and Inkatha Freedom Party district chairman Kas Anamalay, and present IFP KwaDukuza councillor Sally Anamalay.
Stanger residents have banded together to support the grieving family, who buried their loved ones on Tuesday.
