Neighbours dispute over dog shooting

Flag Farm owner says he was defending his animals.

A Sheffield resident has opened a case against his neighbour after his dog was shot outside his workshop on Monday morning.
Peter Anndale said he had been distraught to discover that his nine-month-old puppy had been killed with a bullet through its chest.
“My workers witnessed the shooting just a few metres away from the entrance to our property. I just do not understand how an animal lover could do something like this?” said Anndale.
However his neighbour, the owner of Flag Farm Animal Farm, Julian Foster-Greenwood, said the shooting had been unfortunate.
“It is always regrettable to put an unattended, free roaming dog down even if it will potentially save many other animals. I have a responsibility to vigorously care for and defend my mainly rescued domestic animals and naturally occurring wildlife from threatened attacks and attacks from free roaming dogs which unfortunately is frequent.”
Anndale said they had rescued Scruff and his sister Sophie in January and they sleep inside at night. “They are not killers. We have cats and geese on the property and they have not hurt them,” said Anndale.
Anndale said he believed Scruff must have slipped out the gate when the workers arrived that morning.
