We are happy in Ballito!

Video of Ballito inspired by Pharrel Williams 'Happy' song has gone viral.

A sensational new video about Ballito is going viral, with over 18,062 views on YouTube as of Tuesday.

The fun, quirky video is the talk of the town.

I Love Ballito and Seeff Properties launched ‘We are Happy in Ballito’ at La Piazza at The Well last Wednesday. Produced by Tim Hay of Hellmot Productions, the video showcases locals, including the Courier staff, dancing at well known places around the town. Local dance studio Sugar Dance coordinated the dancing.

‘Happy’ is a song performed by American singer and producer Pharrell Williams from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack album. It was released on November 21, last year.

To coincide with the single release, the website 24hoursofhappy.com was launched featuring a visual presentation of ‘Happy’ advertised as being “the world’s first 24 hour music video”. The video consists of the four-minute song repeated with various people dancing around Los Angeles and miming along.

The original video spawned many cover videos on YouTube in which people from different cities worldwide dance to the song. To date more than 1,500 videos had been created.

I Love Ballito’s Karl Wörner said the video had received a phenomenal response from the community.

He credited the idea to Tim Johnson from Seef Ballito. “Tim saw the Cape Town video and he approached us because he thought Ballito would be the perfect location for the next Happy video. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and resources to make this happen,” said Wörner.
