De Vries rocks Umdloti

The second leg of the Quiksilver Takes One to Know One surf competition in Umdloti.

Umhlanga surfer Beyrick de Vries used his knowledge of North Coast beaches to win the inaugural Quiksilver Takes One to Know One surf competition in Umdloti this weekend.
The second leg of the three-part series took the small surf town by storm with over 90 surfers contested on Saturday and Sunday.
The competition was the first Quiksilver event in to be held in Umdloti.
De Vries dropped in on the biggest wave in the 25 minute final and two awesome maneuvres sealed the win.
Durban surfers Brandon Jackson came second and Daniel Redman came fourth while Scottburgh surfer Casey Grant finished in third.
Diran Zakarian proved that Cape Town surfers can shred up the Indian Ocean after he won the under 20 pro junior title. Durban’s Slade Prestwich came in second while Jeffery’s Bay local Dylan Lightfoot finished third.
The final event of the series takes place at Victoria Bay in September.
