Weekend crime report

Road rage in Shayamoya.

The following crimes were attended to by Umhlali SAPS over the weekend:

* A woman was raped by two men after they went to a house in Khalafukwe on Sunday night. The woman was threatened at knife point by one of the men. She managed to escape the house once the men had fallen asleep.

* Early on Sunday morning a man was assaulted in his car in Shayamoya. He had stopped his car when a man got out of a red VW Golf behind him and beat him up with a metal pipe.

* At around 3am on Sunday morning, a man was woken up by knocking on his door in Shayamoya. He ignored and woke up a few minutes later and was held up at gunpoint. The robber stole his cellphone and cash.

* A pedestrian was found dead on the R102 near Stan’s garage on Saturday night. Police reported that he had been hit by a car.

* While walking with a group of friends in Shakashead, a man was stabbed after an altercation with another man on Saturday morning.

* At around 1am on Saturday morning, a man was assaulted with a panga on Mvuma Farm. He was left with open wounds on his arms and legs.

* A house was broken into in Velani township on Friday night while the resident was away.

* Early on Friday morning, a man had to chase a group of people who were trying to steal from his brother at their home in Shayamoya. The group came back and assaulted the man with a bottle and a knife.

* A woman’s laptop was stolen out of a shop in the Lifestyle Centre on Friday. Two men had entered the shop and left a few minutes later. The laptop was missing after they had left.

Umhlali SAPS arrested 20 people for drinking in public, two for possession of marijuana, three for selling liquor without a license, three for drunk driving and one person was arrested for disturbing the peace.
