Bring back our girls!

Tongaat joins global protest during national child protection week.

Tongaat became the latest in a long line of communities to join the global Bring Back our Girls protest.

In a placard demonstration led by the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society residents and pupils held up signs outside Victoria Hospital on May 30.

They were also joined by representatives of the Haven of Rest, SVET and SSS Prayer Group.

The demonstrators joined voices around the world demanding the release of nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist militant group Boko Haram.

“Even though it is national child protection week, awareness and education against child abuse should be spread throughout the world. In keeping with the theme working together to protect children, let us work together, remembering those who we have lost striving to do our best for those who we can save,” said acting social work manager Jo Moodley.
