Galloway case closed

Former North Coast resident cleared.

Police have closed the investigation into the abduction and attempted murder of former North Coast resident Bruce Galloway.

They are satisfied that Galloway (59), who lived on the North Coast in Kearsney for many years, did not fake his kidnapping on Tuesday morning, July 23.

Galloway made national headlines last year when it was reported that he had disappeared from the driveway of his Kloof home around 4am (Former resident feared abducted, Courier, July 26, 2013).

The former SA Canegrowers Association chairman was found three days later on a ledge in Kloof Gorge, just a few kilometres from his house.

In his statement to police he claimed he had been assaulted by armed men who tried to get money from him, throwing him off the ledge when he refused.

Rumours of Galloway staging the incident to cover up financial difficulty then surfaced.

Police have concluded that Galloway told the truth and in the absence of any witnesses have shut the case.
