Mother of foetus in pit latrine to appear in Stanger court

Groutville mother charged with concealment of birth.

The mother of the foetus that was found in a pit latrine in Groutville on Tuesday is set to appear in KwaDukuza magistrate court today.
After she was arrested the mother (24) allegedly admitted to police that she dumped the baby.
KwaDukuza SAPS communications officer Sbusiso Khumalo confirmed that she was charged with concealment of birth.
According to police the foetus was not fully developed and the gender could not be identified.
IPPS Medical Response and Durban search and rescue attended to retrieve the body.
Initial reports suggest the baby was placed in the long-drop toilet on Monday night.
