Cocaine dealers snuffed out at La Mercy

Police found 810 grams of cocaine, 15 ectasy tablets and R38 000 in cash.

Two drug dealers were caught in La Mercy last Thursday during a routine police patrol.

According to Tongaat SAPS acting media liaison warrant officer Manisha Maharaj-Narid, Tongaat visible policing members were on duty in La Mercy when they noticed a suspicious vehicle.

“The officers stopped and searched the driver, who was found in possession of 22 packets of cocaine,” she said.

The unit then called the Durban K9 squad to help search the dealer’s house.

Altogether, police found 810 grams of cocaine, 15 ectasy tablets and R38 000 in cash.

The dealers, aged 26 and 42-years-old respectively, were due to appear in the Verulam court on Friday.

The 26-year-old dealer was previously arrested for possession of cocaine on June 6 and was released on R2000 bail.

The docket has not yet returned from court.
