A horrific accident on the N2 north between Zinkwazi and the Tugela Bridge this morning has left one person dead and two others injured.

A bakkie and a Toyota collided causing the bakkie to burst into flames. Initial reports indicate that one of the vehicles may have done an illegal U-turn on the highway.

Netcare 911, IPSS Medical Rescue, KwaDukuza Fire department and other services arrived at the scene and found the roadway severely obstructed with accident debris.

“Tragically one person was still trapped in the mangled wreckage and had died before our arrival,”said Natcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.
