Aramex Holla Trails Colour Festival next weekend

Cyclists and runners, get ready!

Come Saturday July 5, mountain bikers, trail runners and children alike will don white clothing for the upcoming Aramex Holla Trails Colour Festival.

Formerly known as the Golovane Mountain Bike race, Holla Trails have Aramex Couriers (formerly Berco Couriers) as their new title sponsor on board this year, and with it comes a new and exciting family day, full of brilliant track and colour.

“The event promises plenty of action for mountain bike (MTB) and trail running enthusiasts, with some new added single track on the 50km MTB route and brand new trail running routes which we are very excited about,” said trail master Cam Service.

“The Colour trail will be for both the run and ride and we will set up non-compulsory colour zones where you will have the choice of choosing either the “chicken run” (non colour) or the “colour run”, where you will receive a time advantage and a shower of colour. We suggest you bring old clothing or kit since we cannot guarantee that it wont become a messy ordeal.”

The finish line will also be split in two so that family members can get involved and cover their mom’s and dad’s in powder and those racing snakes who are just there for the ride can avoid getting showered in colour.

Holi colour sachets will be on sale at the festival.

For local riders, the race will be a new experience.

“We have integrated three trails making it unique for regulars.”

Apart from the races, there will be a massive kids zone with plenty of activities. A registry will ensure parents do not have to worry that their children might wander off.

There will also be live music, and a beer garden and catering will be done by the same company which organised the popular Warrior race.

Pre-race entry can be done on the ROAG website, otherwise there will be a late-entry fee for entries on the day.

Service believes this year’s event will be something for the whole family.

“We really want to emphasize the fact that we believe in creating something unique and special, since there are so many races on the calendar. We want to move from an MTB and trail race to a holistic experience that permeates through to the entire family, where there is something for absolutely everybody- from riders to kids to beer drinkers. This is going to be a wonderful day out and what’s more, it is not far from home.”

The main MTB races start at 9am while the trail runs will start at 7.30am and 7.45am.
