Junior chefs turn up the heat
Youngest finalists announced for Coastal Living Bru
The first elimination round of the Coastal Living Bru Junior Chef competition took place at the Ballito Lifestyle Centre on Saturday, June 21.
The event saw 24 young contestants, each paired with an International Hotel School Student, going head-to-head in a Mystery Box challenge.
Each box contained six ingredients and the contestants had to use a minimum of four to create a savoury dish.
The dishes were judged on taste, presentation, creativity and the young chefs’ knowledge and understanding of flavours.
At the same time, four contestants were chosen to go through to the elimination round of the Coastal Living Bru Cake Boss competition. Both events will take place at the Coastal Living Bru food, wine and lifestyle festival, which takes place at La Montagne Hotel in Ballito from July 1 to 3.
The finalists are Kelsey Joubert, Jessica Siedle, Sfiso Mthembu, Keanu Decker, Melissa Landman, Hugo Joubert, Zama Mngomo, Kheta Gwala, Kai Coates, Lucia Mthethwa and Thandiswa Phiri.
