Live To Swim heads to Curro

Curro Mt Richmore were educated on important water safety techniques.

More young people were educated on important water safety techniques at Curro Mt Richmore last week.
The short course is facilitated by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, through local trustee and project manager Dominique Donner Rodd.
Donner Rodd began the beach initiative and water awareness programmes with little girls from Summerhill House in Etete and later moved to Umhlali Preparatory.
Curro Mt Richmore is the second school to benefit.
“The main mission of the foundation is to prevent drowning.
“Drowning is a terrifying scenario that goes beyond just being water safe. For this reason we take the pupils through the skills of reviving a near drowning patient by performing hands only CPR and vomit drill to prepare them for what could happen.
After their training the pupils demonstrate a mock rescue in which they are required to put together all the skills they have been taught,” said Donner Rodd.
The foundation is planning other initiatives including even more schools for the winter months.
