Large rock fall has made popular hiking trail dangerous.

The popular hiking trail that runs between Chakas Rock and Salt Rock beach has become treacherous, with a large rock fall happening last week.

Local resident Leon Groenvald's property is just above the trail and he maintains it regularly. He is warning people to take care when walking along the path.

“The walk way has become dangerous. Recent construction has diverted ground water which is flowing onto the rocks making it slippery,” he said.

He also warned of people to be wary of rock falls, after a couple were nearly hit by a large fall last week.

“Recent construction has also diverted ground water which is flowing onto the rocks making it slippery,” he said.
