The police are investigating a case culpable homicide and public violence after the Ntshawini riot on Tuesday.
The R102 was closed to traffic after angry residents blocked the road with burning tyres and skips, demanding speed humps.
This followed a car accident where a female pedestrian was knocked over and killed a truck on Tuesday afternoon.
KwaDukuza SAPS communications officer constable S’busiso Khumalo confirmed that investigations had begun.
“No arrests have been made yet. Police are still investigating.”
