Searching for new Miss Ballito

The 12 finalists will be announced on Thursday.

The Miss Ballito 2014 competition is off to a great start, with 20 entrants vying for the 12 finalist slots.

Organisers Heidie Smith and Brenda Cartledge of the Rotary Club of Zimbali are impressed with the entrants in this fourth year of the event.

“They are a bright and enthusiastic collection of girls. Choosing the final three will be a very hard task for the judges,” they said.

The Miss Ballito contest has proved to be a highly successful fundraiser for the service club.

Last year R120 000 was raised and distributed to local charities.

The platinum sponsor of the event this year is the SMD motor group of Ballito.

The 20 entrants went through the first round of interviews with the judges last week and the 12 finalists will be announced at the Coastal Living Bru Festival at La Montagne on Wednesday night.

The girls will take part in a glitzy showcase at 7.15pm, followed by the official announcement at 9pm.

In the coming months the finalists will perform charity and fundraising work and Miss Ballito will be crowned during October.
