Former Crawford College North Coast pupil Ryan Olivier’s work was exhibited at the KZN Society of the Arts gallery in June, as part of a young artist collection.
Ryan matriculated last year, with his inventive and beautifully executed artworks earning him an outstanding 98% for visual arts.
His exciting over-sized portrait displays his original use of materials.
The piece underwent a process of layering and engraving into a plaster medium called rhinolite to create a bas relief sculpture.
His work was well received by the public and actually sold during the course of the exhibition.
Visual arts teacher Kerri Mills said the school is incredibly proud of Ryan’s achievement as he represents Crawford North Coast’s cultural strength in the wider community.
