Woman arrested for planning Darnall murder

21-year-old makes deal with alleged hitman.

A 21-year-old woman has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The woman was arrested after a man she allegedly hired to kill a Darnall resident, whose name is unknown at this stage, tipped police off.

The alleged hitman told KwaDukuza SAPS that he was meant to receive money from the 21-year-old on Tuesday, July 15.

Officers took the man to Darnall, where the 21-year-old was caught handing over a R1500 deposit to the alleged hitman.

She was apprehended and upon searching her, officers found another R1500, which would have been paid after the murder had taken place.

The 21-year-old appeared in the KwaDukuza magistrate’s court this morning.

It is unclear whether police will charge the informant or not.

“We want to thank our police officers for quick response on arresting the suspect. Their striving spirit led to the arrest and it is a further testimony to what we have been emphasizing. Working together as a team will ensure that those who commit crimes are apprehended,” said KZN police commissioner lieutenant general Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
