The unsung heroes

Domestic workers get their chance to shine

The hidden heroines of the house will get their chance in the lime light in Hirsch’s monthly Domestic Worker of the Month competition.
The monthly winners will each receive a Hirsch voucher, hamper from Unilever and Hirsch’s as well as being awarded a certificate.
The competition will be carried out in every area in which Hirsch’s operates around South Africa.
Each of the winners’ names will go forward for the title of Domestic Worker of the Year and the chance of winning R5000 and a bed and base set.
If you would like to nominate your domestic worker for the competition, visit one of your nearest Hirsch’s home stores and pick up an entry form.
A 100 word motivation is required explaining why you think your domestic worker deserves the prize.
” Domestic workers are far too often taken for granted. I could never cope with my work load and the amount of travelling that I do if I didn’t have a fantastic domestic worker to help me in each of our homes . They take care of everything, from filling the gas bottles, to making sure that the post is scanned through to me wherever I am. I think as working women we start to rely on our domestic workers more and more and with a little bit of training they can upskill themselves and that’s the object of the exercise, to help them thrive and grow as individuals,” said COO of Hirsch’s Margaret Hirsch.
