A Ballito resident accused of poisoning his neighbour's German Shepherd appeared in the Umhlali Periodical Court on Tuesday morning.
The man allegedly fed Amir Abbas' dog Bella poisoned sausages on January 18, which killed her.
He is currently facing charges of damage to property and animal cruelty – for the deaths of Bella and Abbas' other dog, Tyke.
The accused was expected to plead but the magistrate transferred the case to the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court on July 28.
His wife approached Courier journalists and threatened to take legal action if photographs of her husband were published.
She also took photographs of the journalists.
The Courier is in possession of video footage where the accused is apparently seen throwing the sausages over the fence.
Tyke was also poisoned last year in January but only died in March.
The death was caused by a firecracker exploding in the dog's mouth – the firecracker was allegedly thrown over the wall.
