Weekend crime report

Police urge public not to leave valuables in their cars.

The following crimes were attended by Umhlali SAPS this weekend:

* Items valued R38 500 were stolen from a car stolen on Friday at Thompson Bay beach. A man parked his car and took a walk. When he returned he discovered that his car had been broken into.

* A house and a vehicle parked at the premises were broken into on Ocean View Drive in Tinley Manor on Friday.

* On Saturday a house in Ballito was burgled.

* Cellphones, a laptop, jewellery and money were stolen after a resident in Ballito Drive went to bed and left a window open. The resident woke on Sunday afternoon to find the burglar guards cut.

* A man was shot by two unknown men on a pathway in Shayamoya on Sunday afternoon. The man sustained a wound on his left groin and was rushed to hospital.

The Umhlali SAPS urge residents and holiday makers not to leave valuable items in their cars.
