Over 160 bridge enthusiasts, including 12 Springbok players and many provincial players, competed in the very first Margie Hulett Pairs Tournament on July 19 and 20 at Brettenwood Coastal Estate.
The event was sponsored by Brett Hulett in memory of his late wife Margie, a much loved and respected player who represented South Africa seven times.
The tournament was organised in her honour by Di Adrain, Margie’s’ long-term friend and bridge partner of 26 years and Vanessa Armstrong, Margie’s daughter, herself an avid bridge player.
The event was blessed with great weather, delicious food, great sportsmanship and a lot of laughs – a truly fitting bridge tournament for one of South Africa’s most loved and missed bridge players.
