Crash while escaping suspicious car

Vehicle crashes into barrier on Chaka's Rock bridge.

A man crashed his vehicle into the barrier on the Chaka’s Rock bridge at about 6am this morning, claiming to be fleeing from a vehicle that was following him.

Umhlali police’s Lt Col Dieter Fittkau confirmed that the driver told the police that a car had followed him on the N2 from Zimbali and he was terrified of being hijacked.

In his fear of being hijacked the man had apparently turned off his lights and gone up the N2 off-ramp the wrong way.

He then crashed into the barrier, narrowly missing a vendor on the side of the road.

IPSS Medical Rescue assisted the man, who lucky escaped without injury. His car however was badly wrecked.
