Four months without water in Driefontein

One water truck a week is falling far short of the need.

Driefontein residents have been relying on underground water for four months, as there is no potable water in the area.

The Courier met with Nqobile Ngwane who was washing her clothes at the borehole on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are using this water because there is no other water,” said Ngwane.

Ward 21 councillor Mzwayi Mdluli admitted that the area was facing water problems.

“The last time I saw a water truck in this area was last week Thursday and Ilembe usually sends on one water truck. That is not enough,” said Mdluli.

A reply from Ilembe district municipality on the issue as not available at the time of publishing.
