Pupil shot at school in Shakaville, Stanger

Truanting pupils riot over gate policy.

A pupil was shot and wounded during a riot at Tshelenkosi Secondary School in Shakaville, Stanger yesterday.

According to KwaDukuza SAPS communications officer constable S’busiso Khumalo a group of pupils had arrived late to school and according to the education department’s policy the school gates were locked.

The pupils allegedly then went on the rampage and during the commotion a pupil was shot.

The extent of the child’s injuries is still to be confirmed.

Const Khumalo confirmed that cases of attempted murder and damage to property had been opened.
