Two vehicles collided about two kilometres before the Ballito off-ramp on the N2 this morning critically injuring one man. A further five people sustained minor to moderate injuries.

One vehicle burst into flames and the second came to a standstill down an embankment.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said the KwaDukuza Fire department extinguished the burning vehicle.

Earlier that morning two people were seriously hurt in another accident on the N2 south bound between Ballito and Tongaat. Two vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision and were then rear-ended by a heavy goods vehicle.

Netcare 911 paramedics and other services assisted the injured.
