Surfers do the North Coast proud at the KZN regionals

Salt Rock surfer, Shane Sykes won the under 17 and overall title for the second year running, followed by Richard Kidd from Ballito.

The KZN regional surf champs was held at Warner beach last weekend. The event, hosted by Southern KZN Surfing, took place in good contestable surf as the weather played its part.

Salt Rock surfer, Shane Sykes won the under 17 and overall title for the second year running, followed by Richard Kidd from Ballito. The girls under 15 division was won by Sophie Bell. Team KZN central surfing shone, as they took first position overall. Teal Hogg from Umhlanga reigned supreme in the under 17 girls division while Gabbi Laiveau from Westbrook took first place in the under 13 girls. Koby Oberholzer dominated in the under 15 boys and Karl Steen took the honours in the under 13 boys division.

The Hurley SA Champs is now looming large for these surfers, giving them the opportunity to match their skills against the best in SA in Jeffreys Bay at the end of September.
