‘Golden bass’ released for Orphan Fund competition

Can you catch the golden bass?

It is official – the bass that will be worth R5,000 if caught at the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Bass Fishing competition on Heritage Day has been safely released into one of the four dams at Rain Farm. Event organisers remain mum on the whereabouts of the mystery bass, but did give some useful information to prospective anglers.

“The fact that the fish is released some time before the competition starts gives it ample time to recover and settle down again after its tagging ordeal. We are not giving away which dam it is in, but we can tell the fishermen that it is a fairly small fish (see photo). These are normally more aggressive feeders and not as wily as their bigger brothers, which should increase anglers’ chances of striking it lucky,” said the Courier’s David Hoehler.

Come and enjoy this Heritage Day on Wednesday, September 24, with your family in the great outdoors.

Early entries are only R80 per adult (R100 on the day) and R60 per child 13 years and younger (R80 on the day). You can enter online at www.northcoastcourier.co.za, at MICA Ballito and Hook Line and Sinker. There will be loads of prizes up for grabs and all monies raised go towards the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund beneficiaries. Don’t miss out!
