Umhlali Preparatory grade six pupil Luke Fisher is off to represent his country.
Luke has been chosen as one of four pupils to take part in the Wizards at Mathematics International Contest, at City Montessori School, Lucknow, India.
The boy with the big smile has been an avid mathematician and chess lover since he was little, said his mum Lizette.
Luke certainly agrees.
“This would be a great achievement to have on my ‘high-school-application’ It would also be an amazing experience and my first time out of the country. To be in one room with so many kids loving maths would be so much fun. I cannot wait.”
The trip costs R16 000, which covers accommodation, food, transport and flights.
“We are appealing to anyone who can help – this would be a great experience for Luke!”
The team leaves on October 10 for Mumbai, and will return on October 23.
