“Protec we love you”

Protec Tongaat had successful awards day.

“No matter what, keep on working hard and put your head down. You will succeed in life.”

Those were the words of Moses Mogambery, guest speaker at the Protec Tongaat awards day, held at the Tongaat Secondary School hall on Friday, December 5.

Mogambery emphasised the importance of knowing your duties and taking responsibility without having to be told to do so.

“When you go on to tertiary education there will be no one to tell you what to do or check that you have done your work. Be responsible and always keep on digging until you succeed,” he said.

Snothando Mzobe, a Protec past-pupil who is now at Tongaat Hulett Sugar as an engineer-in-training, gave 2014 matric pupils some advice on how to handle the outside world.

“Things will change and it is always good to know that you have someone to give you direction. That is why we as past-pupils of Protec are always available to assist,” said Mzobe.

Tongaat branch manager Marion Takis thanked all the sponsors for making the day possible.

Through Saturday school, Protec helps prepare pupils from previously disadvantaged communities for successful integration into the work place in general and technological and engineering fields in particular.

“As a non-profit organisation we are entirely dependent on the generosity of our sponsors and it is thanks to them that we are able to equip these young people with the knowledge, skills and values needed for meaningful and productive adult life,” said Takis.
