Buchan leads prayers for rain

Farming community calls on Angus Buchan to help with praying to end the drought.

Desperate for rain, sugarcane farmers, community members and pupils gathered at Ashton Collage last Friday to be lead in heartfelt prayer for rain by world renowned pastor, Angus Buchan.

Buchan himself has experienced the power of prayer in the face of agricultural disaster.

“Rain is a matter of life and death and the God that I know is The Rainmaker,” declared Buchan in front of a packed pavilion and sports field strewn with pupils.

“When it does not rain we are down and out but that is a good thing because then God can come in and work,” he said.

He highlighted the fact that this was a green drought, meaning that above the soil everything appears green but underground the soil is bone dry.

Buchan delivered a powerful message of faith, repentance and the almighty power of God.

“Get right with God, then ask for rain and you will get it,” he said, referencing various examples from the Bible.

He said the greatest sin is the sin of unbelief and that it stands in the way of receiving blessings.

After leading the congregation in a prayer of repentance, he went on to lead them in corporate prayer for rain.

“Every drought ends with rain,” said Buchan, declaring his belief that the wind will change direction and bring the direly needed rain soon.
