A horror accident on the R74 in Stanger claimed the lives of four people this morning.
A truck and motor vehicle crashed on the wet road just before midday.
When IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics arrived, they saw that five people were stuck in the crushed car.
“Four people were dead on arrival, but we managed to get one person out of the car,” said paramedic Paul Herbst.
He said the patient, who is in a critical condition, was transported to hospital with an advanced life support paramedic.
The fire department continued to try and extricate the bodies of the four people out of the wreckage.
