Weekend crime report

Multiple assault cases reported.

Umhlali SAPS attended the following crimes last weekend:

· A woman was held at knife point and assaulted by two men on Friday, while walking on a road that goes through sugarcane fields in Upper Tongaat. Her cell phone was taken and after she screamed for help, residents chased the two suspects who were caught and taken to the police station.

· On Saturday a Shakashead resident was attacked, assaulted with a beer bottle and stabbed twice. He was taken to Stanger Hospital.

· Also on Saturday, a Shayamoya resident sustained bruises to her face, stomach, left arm and shoulder when she was assaulted, allegedly by her husband, and had her cellphone stolen.

· A Shakashead resident found the door of his house forced opened on Sunday. Items valued at R3260 had been stolen.

· On Sunday a resident of Waterfall was arrested for being in possession of an illegal firearm.

· A woman from Shayamoya was robbed and her cellphone taken while walking across a bridge on Sunday.

· A Shayamoya resident was assaulted and her property damaged on Sunday. The property damage is estimated at R8948.
