Multiple accidents on North Coast roads

One dead and 16 injured in three different accidents.

Paramedics have been racing from one accident to the next this morning, starting on the R102 at Tongaat around 8am.

Witnesses said a taxi lost control on the road, while a bus came around a corner and crashed into the taxi.

Tongaat fire department reportedly freed the body of the dead passenger from the wrecked taxi, while IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare 911 transported 12 injured passengers to hospital.

The R102 between Hambanathi and Tongaat central has been closed for the moment.

About 30 minutes later, a vehicle reportedly rolled several times at the N2 Mvoti River bridge, injuring three people.

IPSS Medical Rescue advanced life support transported two patients to hospital.

Also on the N2, a driver lost control of the vehicle near Tugela and hit the barrier, leaving only one person injured.

IPSS Medical Rescue transported the person to hospital.
