Boy critical after falling at school

Circumstances leading up to accident is not yet known.

A six-year-old boy is in a critical condition after he fell down two floors at his school in Tongaat this morning.

Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue said the boy was playing with friends on the second floor.

“The cause of the accident is unknown, but the boy hit his head at the bottom and is in a critical condition,” said Herbst.

IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare 911 paramedics responded and attended to the boy with advanced life support paramedics putting the patient on a ventilator.

Herbst said the boy was transported to hospital via helicopter from AirMercy services.

He also thanked staff from Victoria Hospital who helped with treating the boy.
