Sign for love at Imbalito Hope College
Imbalito Hope College hosts international autism consultant.
This Valentine’s weekend the local Imbalito Hope College hosted Maggie Golding, an international educational and autism consultant, who trained on the Makaton Signing Programme.
Parents, teachers, health professionals and community members attended.
Makaton signing is a unique method of augmentative communication and also helps with improving literacy for children with autism and for those who have communication challenges.
The event was co-sponsored by Netcare Alberlito Hospital who partners with Imbalito Hope College’s Ballito Autism Centre of Excellence, on the first Saturday of every month in hosting the autism support group monthly.
There will be another Makaton session at Netcare Umhlanga Hospital on February 21 and 22, also hosted by Imbalito Hope College.
The internationally acclaimed TEACCH course continues for most of this week too as part of the programme. For registration details, please contact 032-5860200.
