Business over croissants

Ilembe Chamber hosts their monthly networking breakfast.

Upcoming and established businesswomen swapped cards last week at the Ilembe Chamber’s monthly Woman in Business Networking brunch at the Exceptional Bakery and Deli in Salt Rock.

Accountant Natalie Wocke shared her expertise with the women, making simple the difference between your income and expenditure statement and your company cash flow.

“Cash flow is king,” said Wocke, explaining that cash flow and profit are not one and the same.

“People often say things like ‘our businesses was so profitable but still we went under’. You can be profitable but if the money due has not been paid or is tied up you can still run into trouble.”

She gave the women some great tips for keeping cash flow ‘flowing’.

After Wocke’s talk Hirsch’s announced their Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever for the month. Christine Robberts, owner of Lil & Jo Clothing, is the February finalist.

Robberts’ home based business grew out of love for creating beautiful clothes and her two beautiful granddaughters who equally love to dress up.

Christine is absolutely passionate about fabrics and cannot walk out of a fabric shop without buying something.

She designs garments around the beautiful fabrics and spends a lot of time making sure every item is unique and shows off the colour and texture of the material.

Robberts walked away with a R500 Hirsch’s voucher and certificate, and is now one of the finalists for the Margaret Hirsch Woman in Business Achiever of the year. The winner will be announced in September.

Not one lady left empty handed as each attendee left with a delicious chocolate croissant compliments of the bakery. Rae Dengler left with even more as she won the lucky draw and took home a Hirsch Cookbook.
