A truck carrying alcohol has lost its load on the N2 North between the Stanger off ramp and Umvoti tollgate this afternoon.
Hundreds of crates filled with alcohol are strewn over the road and adjacent field.
Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue said the driver was killed and his body was trapped under the truck.
“The driver was killed when he was flung out of the window and crushed by the moving vehicle,” said Herbst.
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
“The entire left lane on the N2 North is obstructed so please drive carefully in the area,” said Herbst.
Paramedics transported one passenger to hospital.
