The xenophobic violence that started on the south coast of Durban and spread to the Durban city centre, also broke out in Shakas Head, near Ballito on Tuesday evening.
IPSS Medical Rescue’s Paul Herbst said locals were burning and looting Somali shops and Umhlali SAPS escorted foreigners out of the area under tense circumstances.
Later on, reports started filtering in of tension rising in Stanger as well.
KZN EMS spokesperson, Robert McKenzie said Verulam also exploded in xenophobic attacks last night and they transported five seriously injured foreign nationals to hospital.
He urged people to restrain themselves and remain calm and said KZN EMS and the SAPS were on high alert and available for assistance.
