Lights stayed on for safety in Shaka’s Head

Police urge municipality to not implement load shedding.

Many Ward 4 (Shaka’s Head) and Ward 22 (Tinley Manor, Shakaskraal, Sheffield Beach, Salt Rock and Compensation) residents were wondering why Tuesday night’s scheduled load shedding never realised.

Umhlali SAPS’s Lt Col Dieter Fittkau said they requested the KwaDukuza municipality (KDM), via cluster commander, Brigadier Hastebeer, to suspend the planned load shedding in the light of the threat of xenophobic attacks.

This brilliant forward-thinking strategy is believed to be part of the reason the Umhlali SAPS were able to maintain relative calm in Shaka’s Head.

Fittkau thanked KDM for agreeing to keep the lights on for the sake of people’s safety.
