Whether you are living on the street or in a mansion, wearing nice clothes are important and May 16 will be an opportunity for those less fortunate to go shopping for free.
After the success of the pop up street store in Durban, Grace Family Church and Grace Aid, in partnership with Imagine Durban and Christ Church Addington will be hosting another Pop Up Street Store on Saturday, May 16.
The day will run from 8.30am to 12pm at 398 Mahatma Gandhi Road (Christ Church, Addington).
Last year, 112 boxes of donated clothes dressed 659 homeless people and this year, the organizers hope to reach 800 people. The children’s area will include face painting and toys.
This novel SA initiative has gained world-wide momentum with Street Stores having been set up in over 120 cities world-wide.
“Homeless people impact everyone living in the city of Durban. We believe this is a priority for all. Even the city of Durban is on board via Imagine Durban to partner in this great initiative,” said Dave Richter of Grace Aid.
People can drop off donations such as new or ‘like new’ clothes, shoes and hats for all genders and ages, along with balls and toys for kiddies at any Grace Family Church campus in Umhlanga, Ballito and Riverside.
From April 17, clothing donor JAM Clothing will also have collection boxes in selected branches including Amanzimtoti, Hillcrest, Umhlanga and Smith Street.
So hang up and help out with the Street Store.
