Sunday fun with the Lions

The Ballito Lions Club organised a sport day with Osizweni Primary School.

Ballito Lions Club spent Sunday with pupils of Osizweni Primary School, bringing fun and laughter into the lives of the underprivileged children.

School teacher Thandeka Mpanza, said that the 40 pupils are being raised by single parents and some are orphans.

“In the name of Osizweni, we say thank you to the Lions and I cannot think of words to describe the joy they have brought to us today,” said Mpanza.

The Lions had arranged soccer and netball matches as well as having organised a demonstration and foam fun by KwaDukuza fire fighters.

KwaDukuza fire fighter Nkululeko Gumede demonstrated the equipment the fire fighters use when there are emergencies.

Lions Project director Paul Naidoo, said they choose schools from disadvantaged areas with underprivileged pupils.

“Last year we held a similar event with Sizani Combined School and today it was a day of joy for the pupils of Osizweni,” said Naidoo.

The children all received food parcels to take home.

Naidoo issued an open invitation for like minded people to join the Lions.

“The door of the club is open to everyone who wishes to join. Let us help where there is a need for help,” he said.
