Tongaat crime round-up
The crime incidents Tongaat SAPS responded to in the previous week.
A family was held at gunpoint on Friday night, April 24 on Seaview Road, La Mercy and their car and money got stolen.
The car was later recovered at Wentworth.
Earlier that Friday in the Tongaat CBD a man was held at gunpoint while he was delivering cigarette boxes.
His cell phone was taken and his delivery car was driven to Watson Highway where all the cigarette boxes were offloaded into another vehicle.
On Monday, April 27 a businesswoman found the window of her business apartment broken and a sound system stolen.
Tongaat SAPS spokesperson warrant officer Manisha Maharaj-Marie said the matter is still under investigation.
“The alarm wasn’t activated when the break in occurred and we are unsure why,” said Marie.
A man was also arrested in the Magwaveni area after a business robbery and he was found in possession of a homemade firearm.
