Helping matrics with career choices
To help matric pupils, this woman plans on taking a career expo all over the North Coast.
Career guidance and exposure to tertiary opportunities available to school leavers is inaccessible for many matric pupils.
To help remedy this, Nothando Mpanza, an enterprising young woman from Groutville, organised a career expo for Groutville High School and Nonhlevu Secondary School grade 12 pupils, on Thursday April 30.
Training institutions including PC Training, Elangeni, Innovatus, Compuzone and Umfolozi College were there to provide information to the pupils, answer questions and offer guidance.
Mpanza said that she was grateful to KwaDukuza municipality for helping her to host the expo.
“I come from a family that is always looking for ways to help other people. My grandfather Gizenga Mpanza was very instrumental in molding this country and KwaDukuza in particular, to what it is today. So it is my responsibility that I carry on his legacy by doing community work,” said Mpanza.
She has decided to take the career expo to other areas around the North Coast to reach as many pupils as possible.
