Ballito jumble sale to raise funds for the Mama Mimi's organisation.
Great excitement bubbled around a gazebo in the park behind the BP garage in Ballito last Saturday morning, when a group of ladies set up a jumble sale for a special cause.
The jumble sale was held as a fundraiser for Mama Mimi’s, an organisation based in Waterfall, Durban, that uplifts disadvantaged homes by teaching people how to bake bread and how to turn the skill into a business.
Coningham Lee recruitment consultant and jumble sale organiser, Linda Herbst said they are raising funds for this organisation this year, so that they can help the informal settlements around the Ballito area.
“We love the idea that Mama Mimi’s gives someone the chance to uplift themselves in their own home and also teaches people how to budget and run their own business,” she said.
The clothes at the jumble sale were mostly factory overrun clothing as well as a few donated toys.
“We are so grateful for any donations and would like to thank everyone who helped to make the jumble sale possible as well as Viva Security for keeping everyone safe while they shopped.”
After the success of last weekend’s jumble sale, another one will be happening at the same place this Saturday starting at 9am.
