Spreading the warmth
This winter, help out those who do not have warm clothes or food.
This week sees the launch of two local annual initiatives striving to feed and clothe the vulnerable and the hungry of our community, being Keep Tongaat Warm and the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund’s Soup, Socks and Snuggles Campaign.
With winter creeping up on us, everyone is busy stocking up on warm bedding and clothes, ensuring that the kitchen cupboards are filled with wholesome food and goodies.
While you are well prepared and ready for the cold winter months ahead, many people face the winter without the basic necessities such as wholesome food, blankets or jerseys.
As the cold weather arrives the vulnerable are exposed to colds and flu because they do not have anything to protect them from the harmful effects of winter.
While your needs are important, the needs of the community are just as important.
Sometimes the small things you do for another fellow human being can mean everything to them. In this spirit, giving this winter to the needy can warm your heart.
Spread the warmth by assisting the Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society to keep Tongaat warm and the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Soup, Socks and Snuggles campaign to feed and warm the orphans and vulnerable children of the area.
The appeal is to anyone who can assist with donations of blankets, soup and warm clothing like jerseys, socks, hats, boots and any other related items to assist the needy during winter.
Items can be dropped off at the Tongaat Child Welfare offices from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4.30pm.
Soup, socks, jerseys and blankets can be placed in the branded Orphan Fund Soup and Socks collection boxes at Lifestyle Superspar and Checkers Ballito.
