SADTU strike forces closure of Umhlali Prep

Parents were asked to pick up their children after strikers force closure of schools.

Umhlali Preparatory has been closed after striking members from the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) arrived at the school.

Parents already came to pick up their children from the premises.

SADTU are demanding that the department of education’s regional director, Thembinkosi Vilakazi’s removal from her position.

The union said it will not go back to work until she is no longer the director.

The strikers are making their way to Ashton International College in Ballito.

Umhlali SAPS are at the school premises.
