Queen for a day

Reach for a Dream foundation spoils terminally ill girls.

The Reach for a Dream Foundation had their annual Queen for a Day event on April 30 where little girls with terminal and life-threatening illnesses were treated to a day of pampering and love.

Dr Kajal Lutchminarian from King Edward Hospital, a former Miss India Worldwide, was the queen of the day who helped to make these girls’ dreams come true.

“As a medical doctor, I have a deep appreciation and understanding of what these strong young souls have endured,” said Lutchminarian.

The girls were treated to a morning of pampering mani’s and pedi’s at Sorbet in Gateway.

“It was so lovely to watch them laugh, gain confidence and teach them how to model, then crown and sash each and every one of them at the Protea Hotel Umhlanga. The most heart warming moment was when one little girl who had not wanted to remove her cap after her chemotherapy, was by the end of the day, posing and strutting with her new crown!”

Back at the hospital, Lutchminarian said their doctors noticed a remarkable change in their attitudes and energy levels.

“It was a truly rewarding and beautiful experience,” she said.
