The Tongaat Fire Department were called out to the KNA Centre in Tongaat this morning where a cooking fire apparently got out of control and the gas cylinder exploded.
Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue said two people were trying to cook food in the bathroom area, using a gas cylinder, after load shedding was implemented this morning.
“They were apparently trying to cook food when the flames just got bigger and bigger,” said Herbst.
He said the flames set alight the room.
“The Tongaat Fire Department responded quickly and controlled the blaze. Only one person was injured,” said Herbst.
