A Salt Rock family suffered a terrible tragedy when their three-year-old daughter drowned in the family home swimming pool on Monday evening.
It is believed that the girl managed to unlock a sliding door and went outside.
Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Chris Botha said that exact detail as to how the child landed in the pool is still speculative and will remain subject for investigation.
According to Specialised Rescue Unit’s Quentin Power, the mother found her in the pool and jumped in.
Power said the father contacted Specialised Rescue Unit and they immediately rushed to the Salt Rock home.
Power added that they tried to resuscitate her for nearly two hours.
IPSS Medical Rescue and Netcare911 arrived at the scene and paramedics took over with advanced life support resuscitation, but despite the all their efforts the child tragically died.
